Always disconnect the internal laptop battery cable immediately after removing the bottom panel. Never touch RAM slots or internal motherboard components with the battery energized.
1. Power down laptop, disconnect AC adapter, and discharge static electricity.
2. Loosen the 4 captive screws along the rear vent corners. Remove the 4 front edge screws.
3. Pry open base cover starting from the rear corners and working along the perimeter.
4. Unplug the internal battery connector before touching internal electronics.
5. RAM slots are located in the center under the metal EMI shield.
6. Slot 2 M.2 SSD requires securing the Dell bracket Part #X8MY9 with screw #26X1Y.
7. Reconnect battery, snap base cover back on, and tighten all 8 screws.
