How to Install RAM in Dell XPS 15 9530 (Creator Edition)

Mandatory Safety Protocol:

Always disconnect the internal laptop battery cable immediately after removing the bottom panel. Never touch RAM slots or internal motherboard components with the battery energized.

1

1. Shut down XPS 15 completely and unplug all cables.

2

2. Remove the 8 Torx T5 screws around the base plate perimeter.

3

3. Gently wedge a plastic guitar pick under the edge near the hinge and run along the seams to release the tight aluminum snaps.

4

4. Remove the aluminum bottom shell. Disconnect the main battery lead from the motherboard.

5

5. To upgrade RAM: Peel back the black adhesive insulating sheet covering the two SO-DIMM slots. Release side retention spring clips.

6

6. To upgrade SSD: Remove the copper thermal bracket screw, lift off bracket, insert new M.2 2280 NVMe SSD, replace bracket and re-tighten screw.

7

7. Re-connect battery plug, snap bottom cover back into place, and secure the 8 Torx T5 screws.
