Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 (2023-2024) RAM Upgrade & Compatibility Guide
Complete technical teardown of the memory subsystem on the Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 (2023-2024). Discover tested maximum RAM limits beyond official factory documentation, JEDEC downclocking rules, rank optimizations, and certified plug-and-play kits.
2x 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM
OEM Official Max: 32GB
1.1V Standard JEDEC
Avoid high-density 1Rx16 modules
Memory Controller Downclocking & Speeds
Both memory modules are user-serviceable located beneath a metal electromagnetic shield. Intel 13th Gen H-series processors natively downclock 5600MHz RAM to 5200MHz, so 5600MHz modules will operate stably at 5200MHz CL42.
- 4800 MHz
- 5200 MHz
- 5600 MHz (runs at 5200 MT/s due to CPU memory controller limit)
Rank Density Impact: 1Rx8 or 2Rx8 kits provide 6-10% higher minimum 1% lows than high-density 1Rx16 modules.

Always disconnect the internal laptop battery cable immediately after removing the bottom panel. Never touch RAM slots or internal motherboard components with the battery energized.
1. Power down laptop, disconnect charger, and ground yourself to discharge static electricity.
2. Unscrew the 10 Phillips PH00 screws from the underside base panel. Note the different screw lengths.
3. Insert a plastic guitar pick along the front seam and slide around the perimeter to release the plastic latches.
4. Remove bottom casing. CRITICAL SAFETY STEP: Unplug the internal battery connector from the motherboard before touching any electronics.
5. For RAM Upgrade: Gently pry open the metal EMI shielding box. Push the two side retention springs outward to release each SO-DIMM module at a 45-degree angle.
6. Insert new DDR5 SO-DIMM modules firmly into slots at 45 degrees, then press down until the side metal tabs click locked.
7. For SSD Upgrade: Remove the M.2 retaining screw, slide new single-sided M.2 NVMe SSD into Slot 1 or Slot 2, and fasten the screw snug without over-torquing.
8. Reconnect the battery cable, snap the bottom cover into place, and re-tighten the 10 screws.
9. First Boot Notice: On initial power-up with new RAM, expect a 45-90 second black screen while UEFI memory training executes. Do not interrupt or power off.
